KUALA LUMPUR, May 6: President of the Dewan Negara, Datuk Mutang Tagal arrived at 1.00am today and is currently receiving medical treatment here.
Mutang returned from Baku, after leading the Malaysian Delegation to the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue since April 29.
He was slated to return by May 3 but had to cut the trip short.
“The Senator extends heartfelt thanks to everyone in Malaysia and Azerbaijan who aided in organizing his medical care there and facilitating his return to Malaysia for further treatment.
“He also acknowledges the well-wishes and prayers for his recovery and treasures the support provided to him and his family during this time,” said Dewan Negara via a statement.
Prior to the forum, he made courtesy visits to President Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Ali Asadov, and Speaker Sahiba Gafarova of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, and participated in meetings with local industry representatives. – TVS
