DUN Sarawak passes two Supplementary Supply Bills

KUCHING, May 9: The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today passed two Supplementary Supply Bills involving a sum of RM514,002,003 as additional expenditure for the previous allocation.

Both bills, tabled by Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also Second Minister of Finance and New Economy, received a majority support from members of the august house.

The Supplementary Supply Bill (2023) involves a sum of RM267,928,353, while the Supplementary Supply Bill (2024) involves a sum of RM246,073,650.

According to Uggah, the additional expenditure is to meet the cost of various services incurred by various ministries and departments for which funds were insufficient in the 2023 spending estimates.

“Meanwhile, the Supplementary Supply Bill (2024) demands additional expenditure, including an amount of RM112,486,000 required by the Sarawak Premier Department.

“An amount of RM78,000,000 is required by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development to accommodate the management of the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024, and an amount of RM16,049,000 is required for the organization of the SUKMA Para events,” he said.-TVS
