KUCHING, Apr 8: Visually impaired members of the Sarawak Society for the Blind (SSB) can now enjoy free e-hailing services through Maxim E-hailing.
For this purpose, SBB today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Maxim E-hailing, with the aim of bolstering mobility and support for the visually impaired.
Director of Maxim E-hailing Malaysia Mohd Hazwan Musley said this move is part of Maxim’s ongoing efforts to provide top-notch services and assistance, emphasizing the company’s commitment to inclusivity and support for those in need.
“The programme is designed to significantly ease transportation challenges for the blind, granting them greater independence and access to various destinations.
“There are three shared corporate accounts specifically for SSB and with these accounts, it will allow the visually impaired to book rides without any cost,” he said during the signing ceremony held at the Kuching Blind Centre here today.
Currently, the programme benefits a wide user base, with 1,800 registered blind members eligible to utilize this free service.
“Each participant is allocated RM50 to use as they please, offering a substantial amount of mobility and freedom to explore their surroundings, attend appointments, and engage in social activities without the burden of transportation costs,” he added.
The promotional offer is set to last for one year, with assurances from Maxim that the accounts will be topped up once the initial allocation is expended.-TVS
