Make the right choice tomorrow, CM tells Sarawakians

KUCHING, 17 Dec: Tomorrow will be the day for Sarawakians far and wide in deciding whether GPS will still be given the mandate to govern the state or otherwise.

By exercising their rights as voters, they can decide whether they want to maintain a politically stable government or one that could throw the state into a disarray, says Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He also assured that by giving his party – the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) a full mandate, efforts to ensure public security, political stability and the economic prosperity of Sarawak will be safeguarded.

He said that the preservation of unity and harmony in the state that transcends all ethnicity, culture and religious beliefs must be protected.

“My GPS team will always strive to protect and defend the rights of the people and its interest as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), the Report of the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC), the Sarawak State Constitution and the Malaysian Constitution.

“This has been proven through the amendment of the Federal Constitution Bill relevant to the MA63 that was passed in the Parliament on December 14.

“Therefore, we must not leave our future to a government that has failed such as the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, which only lasted 22 months due to weakness and instability,” he said in a statement today.

He further stressed that GPS is an experienced, competent, respected and has high integrity with excellent track record that could definitely government the state effectively.

Though much development has come to fruition, Abang Johari said that the fight must continue to achieve a better Sarawak.
