KUCHING, Apr 3: The direct flight from Kuching to Jeddah is expected to streamline the travel arrangements for pilgrims from Sarawak, said Ruzaiman Ghazalee, Chairman of the Sarawak Umrah and Hajj Agencies Association (SUHA).
He emphasised that the direct flight fulfills the aspiration of SUHA and all prospective Islamic pilgrims here.
“Throughout my time in the industry, this matter is still being addressed. We hope that one day, in the near future, this issue will be promptly resolved to facilitate Islamic pilgrims in our state,” he said.
He spoke to reporters after paying a courtesy call to the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
Meanwhile, regarding the hajj quota in Sarawak, he hoped that Sarawak would receive an equal share.
He remarked that the issue concerning the hajj quota from Sarawak is not new.
For the record, the hajj quota for Malaysia for this year’s hajj season is 31,600 pilgrims. -TVS
