KUCHING, May 6: The eighth Tuan Yang Terutama, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar graced the opening ceremony 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN), today.
This marks Wan Junaidi first appearance at the ceremony as TYT.
He was accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi who arrived at the venue – the DUN Parade Square at about 9.30am.
The ceremonious morning began with Ibu Pertiwiku, Sarawak’s anthem performed by a 40-piece band comprising of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) led by Inspector Frankie Billy.
Wan Junaidi then proceeded to inspect the 105-personnel Guard of Honour from the General Operations Force (PGA) and PDRM, led by Inspector James Rodney and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jiffry Ardin.
Then, all attendees sang ‘Ibu Pertiwiku’ and national anthem ‘Negaraku’ before receiving the Royal Salute from the Guard of Honour.
Afterwards, the governor proceeded into the chambers to deliver his opening remarks, marking the beginning of the first meeting of the third term of the DUN sitting.
Five bills is set to be tabled in this session which are the Sarawak Port Authority Bill, Supplementary Supply (2023) Bill, Supplmentary Supply (2024) Bill, Protection of Public Health (Amendment) Bill and the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (Amendment) Bill.
Also present Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, State Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar, and other dignitaries – TVS
